Integrated Management of the Peat Forest Ecosystem in Kahayan Hilir is a program of the Village Forest Management Institute (LPHD) in 4 Village Forests in Kahayan Hilir covering an area of 16,245 Ha, namely Gohong Village Forest, Kalawa Village Forest, Mantaren I Village Forest, and Buntoi Village Forest. The program aims to protect and restore peat forests and improve social forestry management.
Stakeholder meetings are meetings that have an interest in program results or program activities. These stakeholders are known as individuals which can include partners, community members, etc. The goal of these meetings is to ensure that all angles are considered and that everyone is aligned toward the same goal. This was a meeting intended to bring together these diverse voices.

The stakeholder meeting discussed the PTEHG program being implemented and discussed how the program runs, the importance of the PTEHG program, and program activities.
Representing the Head of Kahayan Hilir Subdistrict, Priadi said that this program really helps our subdistrict during the dry season. With the help of activities to handle forest and land fires, this program is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of people in three villages and one sub-district and region.
“The village head really supports the LPHD program, especially village forest management which has been assisted by KPSHK since 2021.” Said Epansyah as Head of Gohong Village in his introduction.
Joko Listyanto in his speech said that KPHP Kahayan Hilir really welcomed the activities carried out by LPHD and KPSHK. Some of the activities that have been carried out include patrols and construction of monitoring towers, construction of canal blocking, and planting.
The two-year running of the PTEHG program in the Kahayan Hilir Village Forest aims to protect and/or restore natural ecosystems, forests and peatlands while encouraging sustainable livelihoods for local communities and has received a number of mutual benefits including institutional strengthening and training at the LPHD, KUPS, TPH team levels. and TPK forest and land fires. Provision of LPHD infrastructure, establishment of PISL (Information Center and Field School), mapping of Kahayan Hilir program location, TMAT monitoring well, 4 Forest and Forestry Monitoring Towers, 4 canal blocks and 4 Seed TPS.
Engar from the Earthood team asked about the collaboration process between KPSHK and LPHD. Yanto L. Adam, Chair of the LPHD, answered, Gohong said that the village community had been familiar with peat for a long time. Since 2022, LPHD has collaborated with KPSHK to manage village forests, which are protected forests with thin to thick peat. The MoU process between KPSHK and LPHD requires several stages to be passed, which involve inviting village heads and the community.
“To improve our business performance, KPSHK has provided training for us. Rattan training has been provided by KPSHK, which is our main income. Develop a business plan including processing raw materials and improving the quality of rattan weaving. “We were assigned by KPSHK to take part in various pamaren,” said Marlinie as Chair of KUPS Rattan Gohong
In the final session, Yanto L. Adam stated that Gohong Village is trying to involve all communities who have not received direct benefits to involve their community. We involve women’s representatives, as was the case with the previous canal blocking construction. For Gohong Village, the Village Forest is an asset.
Stakeholder meetings are activities intended to improve cooperation and communication, gather suggestions, and manage expectations and risks. These meetings are very important to gather valuable input.
