BORNEONEWS, Pulang Pisau – Konsorsium Pendukung Sistem Hutan Kerakyatan (KPSHK) menggelar Apel Siaga Cegah Karhutla Melawan Super El Nino bersama Darung Bawan di halaman Rumah Betang Bandar, Kecamatan Kahayan Hilir, Rabu, 12 Agustus 2026.
Apel siaga tersebut diikuti tim patroli kebakaran hutan dan lahan (karhutla). Masyarakat Peduli Api (MPA), LPHD, KPH, Aparat Desa, Kecamatan, Babinsa dan Bhabinkamtibmas sebagai upaya memperkuat kesiapsiagaan menghadapi musim kemarau ekstrem. Field Project Manager KPSHK, Edy Subhani mengatakan, apel siaga bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat dan kesiapan seluruh tim di tingkat desa maupun kecamatan dalam menghadapi potensi karhutla akibat pengaruh Super El Nino.
“Apel ini bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat dan memastikan seluruh tim di desa dan kecamatan sudah mempersiapkan diri menghadapi karhutla,” ujarnya.
Ia menjelaskan, KPSHK sebenarnya telah menetapkan status siaga karhutla sejak Mei 2026 berdasrkan pantauan BMKG. Sejak saat itu, berbagai kegiatan pencegahan telah dilakukan, mulai patroli, monitoring hingga pemadaman di sejumlah lokasi rawan.
Menurut Edy, titik kebakaran yang ditangani berada di kawasan hutan produksi maupun areal penggunaan lain (APL), seperti di Kalawa, Gohong, Buntoi dan beberapa titik di pinggi jalan.
“Kegiatan ini bukan hanya fokus di area proyek, tetapi di seluruh desa rawan kebakaran di wilayah Kecamatan Kahayan Hilir,” katanya.
Ia menekankan pentingnya peningkatan kewaspadaan tim patroli melalui monitoring rutin di lokasi rawan, sosialisi kepada masyarakat agar berhati-hati saat beraktivitas, serta memperkuat koordinasi lintas pihak.
“Kami terus berkoordinasi dengan Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, Polsek, Pemerintah Desa dan Kecamatan terkait pencegahan, pemadaman dan tindak lanjut penanganan karhutla,” ucapnya.
KPSHK juga menlakukan evaluasi harian terhadap setiap kejadian kebakaran untuk menentukan langkah lanjutan yang perlu dilakukan di lapangan.
Terkait upaya pengendalian kebakaran di lahan gambut, Edy menyebut sekat kanal yang dibangun masih berfungsi menahan aliran air dan menjaga kelembapan gambut di beberapa lokasi.
“Masih ada efektivitas sekat kanal di beberapa titik, meskipun ada lokasi yang mulai mengalami kekeringan karena air pasang tidak lagi menjangkau area tersebut,” jelasnya.
Selain sekat kanal, KPSHK memantau tinggi muka air tanah menggunakan alat ukur khusus. Berdasarkan hasil pemantauan, beberapa titik sudah berada di bawah ambang aman 40 sentimeter sehingga perlu mendapat perhatian lebih.
Ia menambahkan, berdasarkan identifikasi KPSHK hingga saat ini belum ditemukan kebakaran di kawasan hutan lindung maupun hutan desa.
Kebakaran yang terpantau berada di kawasan hutan produksi dan telah dilakukan pemadaman bersama LPHD, MPA, KPH, kecamatan, Polsek, Babinsa dan Bhabinkamtibmas.

BORNEONEWS, Pulang Pisau – The Consortium for Supporting Community-Based Forest Systems (KPSHK), together with Darung Bawan, held a “Combating Super El Niño” Forest and Land Fire Prevention Readiness Assembly at the grounds of the Bandar *Betang* House (traditional longhouse), Kahayan Hilir District, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The assembly was attended by forest and land fire patrol teams, the Fire-Aware Community (MPA), Village Forest Management Institutions (LPHD), Forest Management Units (KPH), village and district officials, as well as military (Babinsa) and police (Bhabinkamtibmas) personnel, as part of efforts to strengthen preparedness for the extreme dry season. The Kahayan Hilir District Head, Enra Setiawan, served as the assembly’s inspecting officer.

KPSHK Field Project Manager Edy Subhani stated that the assembly aimed to raise public awareness and ensure the readiness of all teams at both village and district levels to face potential forest and land fires caused by the influence of Super El Niño.
“This assembly aims to increase community awareness and ensure that all teams in the villages and the district are prepared to deal with forest and land fires,” he said.
He explained that KPSHK had actually established a forest and land fire alert status as early as May 2026, based on monitoring by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). Since then, various prevention activities have been carried out, ranging from patrols and monitoring to fire suppression efforts in several high-risk locations.
According to Edy, the fire incidents addressed occurred in both production forest areas and areas designated for other uses (APL), such as in Kalawa, Gohong, Buntoi, and at several locations along the roadside.
“This activity focuses not only on project areas but on all fire-prone villages within the Kahayan Hilir District,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance among patrol teams through routine monitoring of high-risk areas, raising public awareness about exercising caution during activities, and strengthening cross-sector coordination. “We continue to coordinate with Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, the Sector Police, and village and sub-district governments regarding the prevention, extinguishing, and follow-up handling of forest and land fires,” he said.
KPSHK also conducts daily evaluations of every fire incident to determine the necessary follow-up actions in the field.
Regarding fire control efforts on peatlands, Edy noted that the canal blocks constructed are still functioning to retain water flow and maintain peat moisture in several locations.
“The canal blocks remain effective at several points, although some locations are beginning to dry out because the high tide no longer reaches those areas,” he explained.
In addition to canal blocks, KPSHK monitors groundwater levels using specialized measuring instruments. Monitoring results indicate that levels at several points have dropped below the safe threshold of 40 centimeters, requiring increased attention.
He added that, based on KPSHK’s assessments to date, no fires have been detected in protected forest areas or village forests.
The fires that were detected occurred in production forest areas and have been extinguished through joint efforts involving the LPHD (Village Forest Management Institution), MPA (Community Fire Care Group), KPH (Forest Management Unit), sub-district authorities, the Sector Police, Babinsa, and Bhabinkamtibmas.
“The areas that caught fire have been extinguished and wetted down, and they continue to be monitored by the team on the ground,” he emphasized. (RETHA/j)
