Pagi itu matahari naik di langit Mantaren I. RT 05 mencatat seorang lelaki mengenakan sepatu, baju patroli, serta alat pelindung diri. Sosok itu Bapak Ganti, Ketua Tim Patroli Pengamanan Hutan Desa.
Rumahnya berada Kecamatan Kahayan Hilir, Kabupaten Pulang Pisau. Hari ia jalani sebagai ayah, petani, sekaligus penjaga hutan. “Tidak semua orang bisa menjadi ketua patroli untuk memimpin beberapa orang dan menjalankan tugas pengamanan hutan serta penanganan kebakaran,” ujarnya.

Sejak 2021 hingga 2026, Ganti memimpin tim atas kepercayaan Lembaga LPHD serta anggota. Amanah itu ia jalankan melalui patroli dan penanganan kebakaran. Setiap kegiatan ia laporkan kepada lembaga.
Apel berlangsung sebelum patroli. Ganti memeriksa personel serta perlengkapan satu per satu. Ia memastikan sepatu terpasang, alat komunikasi berfungsi, serta peralatan pemadam siap pakai. “Keselamatan itu utama. K3 harus terlaksana, penggunaan alat tidak boleh sembarangan,” ucapnya kepada tim.
Tim patroli bermalam kawasan hutan desa. Mereka mencegah penebangan serta aktivitas pemicu api. Musim kemarau meningkatkan frekuensi patroli.
Gambut mengering saat kemarau. Tim melakukan pembasahan area rawan kebakaran. Air mengalir melalui selang serta mesin pompa agar api tidak menjalar.
Handil tabuan memiliki sekat kanal. Sekat kanal menahan aliran air serta menjaga tinggi muka air gambut. Infrastruktur itu menjadi bagian rencana pengendalian kebakaran.
Ketika asap muncul, tim bergerak menuju titik api. Alat pemadam serta dukungan pendonor membantu proses pemadaman. Api padam sebelum meluas.
Ganti memimpin dua lembaga, termasuk Masyarakat Peduli Api tingkat KPH. Tugas mencakup patroli, sosialisasi, serta penanganan kebakaran. “Selama hutan aman, masyarakat juga akan tenang,” katanya.
Di luar kegiatan patroli, ia mengelola karet. Penghasilan itu ia gunakan untuk kebutuhan rumah tangga. Hujan atau kemarau, patroli tetap berjalan. Ia mencatat jalur, titik rawan, serta sumber air. “Kalau hutan rusak, anak cucu kita yang rugi,” ucapnya.
Mantaren I mengenal Ganti melalui kerja patroli dan pemadaman. Namanya hadir setiap apel serta laporan kegiatan. Hutan desa ia jaga melalui langkah dan tindakan.

His home is in Kahayan Hilir District, Pulang Pisau Regency. He spends his days as a father, farmer, and forest ranger. “Not everyone can be a patrol leader, leading several people and carrying out forest security and firefighting duties,” he said.

From 2021 to 2026, Ganti led the team, entrusted by the LPHD and its members. He carried out this mandate through patrols and firefighting. He reported every activity to the agency.
A roll call took place before the patrol. Ganti inspected personnel and equipment one by one. He ensured that shoes were on, communication devices were functioning, and firefighting equipment was ready for use. “Safety is paramount. Occupational health and safety must be implemented, and equipment must not be used carelessly,” he told the team.
The patrol team spends the night in the village forest area. They prevent logging and fire-starting activities. The dry season increases the frequency of patrols.
The peat dries out during the dry season. The team wets fire-prone areas. Water flows through hoses and pumps to prevent the fire from spreading.
Handil tabuan has canal barriers. The canal barriers hold back water flow and maintain the peat’s water level. This infrastructure is part of the fire control plan.
When smoke appears, the team moves to the fire hotspot. Fire extinguishers and donor support aid the extinguishing process. The fire is extinguished before it spreads.
Ganti leads two organizations, including the Fire Awareness Community at the Forest Management Unit (KPH) level. His duties include patrols, outreach, and fire management. “As long as the forest is safe, the community will be calm,” he said.
Aside from patrols, he cultivates rubber. He uses the income for household needs. Rain or dry, patrols continue. He records routes, vulnerable points, and water sources. “If the forest is damaged, our children and grandchildren will suffer,” he said.
Mantaren I knew Ganti through his patrols and firefighting work. His name is present at every roll call and activity report. He protects the village forest through steps and actions.
